The Gatekeepers

Our project deals with the conservation and development of the great dune and examines the wall between it and the Ashdod metropolis - the city districts, and the open fields - the Ashdod sands. Planned are a number of public buildings that function together as "gatekeepers". The purpose of the buildings is to preserve the dune and its occurrence while preventing future construction plans that are currently planned to be built on site. In this way, the slow reach in of the city into the dune area is stopped.
The design of the public buildings and the promenade connecting them to the city creates a soft wall. The construction technology is adapted to the sands and the nature of the animals and plants whose sole habitat is the dune.
